Breaking Math Podcast: 22. Incomplet
Gödel, Escher, Bach is a book about everything from formal logic to the intricacies underlying the mechanisms of reasoning. For that reason, we've decided to make a tribute episode; specifically, about episode IV. There is a Sanskrit word "maya" which describes the difference between a symbol and that which it symbolizes. This episode is going to be all about the math of maya. So what is a string? How are formal systems useful? And why do we study them with such vigor?

Just a nerd in general; I'm a total fainboi noob on serious maths, but I am an OCD fanboi. I wish now I had known enough to study maths right off the bat, and to do it for the USN. I'm not the biggest Hofstadter fan in the world, but GEB introduced me to Godel, Escher, and Bach (and a multitude of others), and changed my life in 1987, by which time I had already staked my claim on an undergrad degree in Public Administration (IKR), having already foregone the offer of a USN ROTC scholarship to take a standard liberal arts skolly, just because the USN said my eyesight wasn't good enough to become a pilot.

Now you know why I'm so fucked up the way I am.

Most definitely, but my dumb-17-year-old-ass was all like "astronaut or fuck it." I'd like to beat that dipshit's ass.

Did you actually want to be an astronaut?
SJWs are a natural consequence of corporatism.
