I listened to ALL the HashCast's in a row a few months ago. I thought they were pretty good. I like the idea of a lucktocracy, as long as the game isn't rigged, and anyone can play.

Don't really agree with the 100% inheritance tax, though. Make's it pointless to get super rich, but I understand that's what you're going for...prevent mega-inheritances from creating a new aristocratic class by giving rich people's kids such a head start that no one else really stands a chance. You don't need a lot of luck when you inherit a bazillion dollars from your old-money family.

Would it work to apply a progressive inheritance tax? For instance, you get to keep the first $100k, then it gets taxed progressively more and more until you get to a 90% tax rate after say $5 million?

I don't think you'd want to have a 100% inheritance tax on even super high amounts of money, otherwise there's no point in making more than a certain amount of money. What are people going to do once they reach that amount of rich, just keep being awesome for free? Plus the government taking away all your money when you die seems pretty socialissssst to me.

"100% Inheritance Tax" is my euphuism for only the deduction to family members ($5 million) and $1 million per gift for the rest, with no limit on number of gifts.
