I didn't say the Catholics didn't help, or that their contributions pre-date the Protestant contributions. The first world was built by protestants during the Industrial Revolution, not Catholics. The Catholic nations lag behind the Protestant nations, to this day, and industrialized much later.

The most religious parts of Europe are Catholic and happen to be in Eastern Europe, but I mean consumerism and globohomo has taken over everywhere.
