Subconscious Irrationality Theory

Subconscious Irrationality is a social theory that assumes people will instinctually respond to psychological stimuli in a predictable manner. Human beings are predictable because we subconsciously exhibit basic reactions, such as envy, jealousy, and resentment. A person’s subconscious irrationally will lead them to actions deleterious to society, usually expressed passive aggressively, but also in the forms of dominance, control, spite, and perverse behavior. As an example, we will call these instinctual emotional reactions, “irrationality.” Irrationality is not the same as illogical. Logic means, given a set of inputs and a decision tree, a solution can be repeatedly arrived at in a somewhat uniform fashion. Illogic would apply to the creation of the decision tree – irrationality would be to accept a logical decision tree than not adopt its outcome.

The theory stipulates that by recognizing that your relationship with other people will be dominated by these feelings, you can predict how others will react, but an alternate use of the knowledge is that you will respond in the same manner. Your subconscious feelings can be consciously recognized and overcome by:

Step 1 - Recognize that subconscious reactions control people’s lives.
Step 2 - Make these subconscious thoughts conscious.
Step 3 - Overwhelm the primordial feelings with your will.

Knowing how you personally will subconsciously respond, it becomes a matter of ethics & morals whether or not you wish to overcoming the initial instinctual reaction with rationality. Stated simply: the quickness and effectiveness (facility) that your reactions to your own subconscious irrationality can be subsumed is a positive measure of your character. If you accept that all people will act irrational to some extent and the trust you place in someone will at some point be betrayed to your detriment then it is logical to protect your best interests against that eventuality.
