Debate-By-1000-Cuts

Post by Martin Hash » Tue Nov 24, 2015 11:16 am

Our political structure is such that issues can be lost because of Debate-By-1000-cuts: any single debate item often seems too petty to pursue: somebody doesn't like guns so they constantly insist on gun-control. The people who want guns say nothing, hell, they've got the on Constitution their side, but the cuts keep coming and coming and coming. The NRA learned to strike back immediately and hard at even the smallest of comments, either that or be swallowed. Climate Change is another of these cut-cut-cut strategies: the Climate Changers don't debate any real solutions, they just continually cut-cut-cut, and if you should off-handedly agree with something they are promoting, boom, Carbon Trading. So the other side, usually Conservatives, have become knee-jerk reactionaries. They respond irresponsibly but rationally: deny everything. Otherwise, the next thing you know you got special treatment laws for particular Special Interests.
