The Tech giants: Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc., planned to make money by encouraging colonization of their dataspace by entrepreneurs then taxing them. If the Tech doesn't like a settler, they simply banish them. There is no democracy, only authoritarianism. There is a king, minions & executioners. I don't have to point out who the serfs are...

Feudalism is a good way to frame it. It may be better to live outside the fiefdoms of facebook, google and twitter. But very hard to do. If you live in the fiefdom, you are supporting them, they are making money off you by selling your data.
