Maybe not, but just because it isn't science doesn't mean Jesus wasn't "good."
Or “bad.” It’s not up to other people.
More woke relativism.

Are you sure you aren't on the wrong team, brother?
I’m my own expert on lots of things, including art; I don’t need or want anyone else’s opinion. Continuing in this personal vein, you claim an expertise in art because you have an Art degree. I claim expertise because I consider myself an artist (author, draftsman, design), and I collect art. These things are demonstrably objective, so we can compare expertises, measure and determine the greatest. A lot of my “good” art is on this forum if you’d like to review before presenting your evidence.

I don't claim to be an expert in "art." I have spent a good deal of time very narrowly studying some art, and on that narrow set of topics I can muster some evidence for their quality.

More broadly, since I am not a solipsist, I don't consider my own opinion, or my own reaction to a particular piece of art, the absolute adjudication of quality.

You, on the other hand, appear to believe that your personal response to art is the only thing that matters, and that qualitative differences between pieces of art are imaginary - or, as the woke might phrase it: impact is all that matters.
HAIL!

I tried to be a comic artist, like John Byrne, Frank Miller, Klaus Janson, Walt Simonson, Art Adams

really I thought Moebius was the king, Jean Girard, but that was like an unobtainable level of subtle rendering

I'm pretty good, but not in your class tho, you're a genius

I'll add that there is a reason that much of woke/critical theory emerged from literature departments.

There were a bunch of people who didn't respond positively to the canonical works, and instead of taking this as evidence that they had more to learn and understand, they went about attacking the quality of the classics - trying to find other explanations for why we study Shakespeare.

It is hard to scientifically prove that Shakespeare is 'good' to someone who doesn't like Shakespeare, so that means qualitative differences are illusions?

Nah.

I enjoy fine art, modern art & pop art

it's like if I had unlimited funds I would buy a Picasso

but my art is more Andy Warhol, or Michael Mann, pop art

I'm cultured, but not snobby about it

As a kid, I imagined being a comic book artist; more than imagined, I drew. I was the best draftsman in my high school, and even continued drawing into my late teens but it took too much time for so little reward, and electronics beckoned. I always thought I’d go back to it when I was an old man; not old enough yet, I guess?

I did hire lots of artists though, hundreds of them; made 3D-computer animated movies in the early days. Dealt with artist-ego on a daily basis; won’t do that again. Since I was paying for it, I was the one who said what was “good:” painting, drawing, sculpting, music; who here can claim credentials like those? However, none of my work was a commercial or critical success, even though it did end up in magazines, at film shows, and even in theaters overseas. I still have a Korean poster. The pieces that I consider “good” ARE good, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks; and the not-so-good stuff still got air-time.

PMike is "good." I have Issue #2 of The Dark Night hanging in my office; that's what I think of when I see PMike's art:
