I don't really see it as a question of agreeing with Zinn or not agreeing with him, he bombed people, that seemed to drive him to become a peace activist socialist, which, whatever, fair enough, knock yourself out.

He did his duty tho. He flew the missions, so long as you go over the top, you're golden.

I don't think he was a hero, just doing his duty was enough, I don't idolize him, but I have no particular quarrel with him.

I'm not out to ban people from being lefty peaceniks, I don't recall Zinn being an authoritarian.

J Edgar Hoover had a 400 page file on him, they couldn't find any evidence that Zinn was communist, and they were looking hard.

...His history has two sharp dimensions. The heroes are Arawaks, Cherokees, and Creeks, the Grimké sisters, Nat Turner, Harriet Tubman, John Brown, figures who had previously been peripheral in U.S. history. Frederick Douglass, W.E.B. Du Bois, the Wobblies, Emma Goldman, Eugene Debs, Sacco and Vanzetti, Rosa Parks, the Rosenbergs, Betty Friedan, and Attica prisoners are at the center of the narrative. America’s great 19th-century cities are “death traps of typhus, tuberculosis, hunger, and fire.” The people who built America were cotton pickers, factory girls, and breaker boys.

The villains are puritans and planters, settlers and pioneers, merchants and shippers, bankers and industrialists, all of them promoting a nation infected by greed, racism, and nativism. Zinn thus reverses accepted narratives of American progress and growth, deflating revered national figures and ignoring past accomplishments.

For Zinn and his admirers, previous accounts of American history are smokescreens and calculated lies. He uncovers the cover-up, which is part of his volume’s appeal and thrill. This outlook grandly invalidates a mountain of distinguished historical scholarship that preceded his book. As Harvard historian Jill Lepore once observed, Zinn’s morality play has special appeal for the Holden Caulfields fighting the eternal contest against phonies and fat cats instead of examining tangled social contradictions. Under one cover, A People’s History offers an uncomplicated, emotional, and persuasive version of how the U.S. came to be what it is now...

Most popular history book in the nation, laid down the groundwork for revisionist SJWs and the corrupt academia we’re living through today. But y’all don’t have a problem with it ... until you’re once again face to face with the people who believe every word of it.

I have similar feelings. I respect anyone that served honorably while they were in and start with a positive impression of them, but it's not a golden ticket to heroville for me. MAJ Hassan was a US military officer and gentleman, field grade officer, ended up committing an act of workplace violence, 13 dead, over 30 wounded. Should we honor him, he served. Obviously not.

How about all the officers and NCO's during his 20 year career that new he was crazy AF and did little or nothing to get that fucker gone. There were people in his chain of command with responsibility and authority to deal with that fucker and did not, do we honor them?

I only take issue where the lefties cross into authoritarianism, telling me what I can or cannot think or say.

I don't do that in return tho, if you feel like a lefty peacenik, that's your prerogative, knock yourselves out.

I’m like the government in that regard, prior service gets you a couple extra points from me. Points which are quickly offset or can go negative if you turn out to be a shitbag in the other aspects of your life.

No one told anyone what to say so I don’t really know what you’re going on about. I have a problem with Zinn’s bullshit SJW history becoming the best selling history book in America, but I never said ban it.
So congrats on being normal I guess, since no one advocated tyranny.

Howard Zinn never even committed a petty crime, he has a clean record, vetted by a 400 page FBI file which couldn't find one thing to bust him for.

Served honorably. Bomber crew. World War Two.

Market forces, I'm all for it, 2,000,000 copies sold is an impressive feat to me.
