Most people can get a dog & dope on their own without advice; what the hell do they need wise people for?
What did the council of wise men come up with?

Vietnam.

I don't even recall anybody ever giving me much advice.

And what advice there was, I pretty much did the opposite.
You and everyone else, me included; that's why wisdom has no cachet: unless you can get rich or famous from it, who cares? Dog & dope, man.
I'm a Gen X Latchkey Kid. Free reign since I was ten years old. I honestly didn't get much practical advice.

My parents were intellectual beatniks, they didn't really tell me what to do.

Someone wanted me to list who I thought was wise. I said, "Scott Adams." He's demonstrably wise by any measurement but the person I said that to, disagreed, and called him evil. I let it pass.

I said that in the past, Benjamin Franklin and Richard Burton (the explorer), were wise; the person mentioned famous people like FDR, MLK & Gandhi; purely political choices. "Wisdom" has no meaning.

Yeah. I find wisdom to be a fallacy. It's the same fallacy as "common sense".

I can't quantify it. Math is the only the truth, everything else is speculation.

There is no one who would not benefit from my advice but they don't ask, and wouldn't take it even if I gave it; that's human nature. So while I'm flying back from Peru, I write new episodes of "PRay TeLL," and come up with "Insights" to discuss, while you BBQ and get high. I have no problem with that; I think you're certainly wise within a specified range, and I take your advice from that perspective, but as far as walking on the moon, it ain't gonna happen again.

p.s. "What I want is some uncommon sense because common sense hasn't been working out too well." - me

I think that's everyone's excuse; in fact, that's every nation in history's excuse. Wise people dwindle and dwindle until only hedonists remain and the Huns come in.

Whatevs, I did my time in the trenches.

Trench foot. Frostbite. Bleeding sores. No water. No food. No sleep.

I promised myself I would get a deckchair and enjoy the sunshine, someday.

That someday has finally come.

I certainly don't see any point in trying to reason with people on Facebook.

That's hand waving.

There's nothing to talk about.

There's no basis for parley.

All disputes will ultimately be decided by force.
