I am an attorney. Many attorneys I know and like make their living from liability claims, and would be disappointed by my antipathy towards their area of practice. The honest truth is, I firmly believe this country would be MUCH better off if “liability” became a Government function, where everyone who truly needed help got it, not just those lucky few who happened to get injured by someone with money. As it stands now, it is “jackpot justice,” benefiting the legal profession rather than fulfilling the original purpose. Blame and accusations are unhealthy. If someone is criminally liable for their actions - punish them via the legal statutes. Fine them and use the money to HELP EVERYBODY who has injuries – even those who injure themselves.
