Liberty is Selfishness 2

Americans are schizophrenic about socialism. On the one hand, we're a nation founded on liberty, the opposite the socialism, but we are also a deeply religious nation steeped in socialist rhetoric. One of the problems is that most Americans don't understand what liberty is? They assume it's a synonym for freedom because the 2 words are often used together, and the people who do know are uncomfortable admitting that liberty is actually sounds like selfishness, because the ideology of liberty makes you the sovereign of your own universe, accountable first to yourself, and secondarily to other people in an implied contractual alliance, rather than as partners as socialists believe. The natural political divide between Left and Right should be the liberty premise: do the wants of the individual come before the needs of the group, or visa versa?
