There's No Place for Liberals to Go

I'm a GenXer: my young perceptions were formed by moon landings, protests, and most of all The Cold War. Communists/socialists had no foothold anywhere, certainly not in the Democratic Party. Back then, our Party used to talk about upward mobility in the old-style Hayekian-liberalism/Keynesian-economics sense. Now though, we oldsters are a narrowing slice of a political ideology. The Democratic Party is still the choice for upper mobility but whereas it used to tear down the citadel walls of entrenched-Republicans to let some opportunity out, now they are eschewing liberty for paternalism. In fact, socialism is okay again though they have re-branded themselves as "Progressives." Unfortunately, since we are a 2-Party system with no foreseeable way to change it, the traditional OWG Democratic Party, vis-à-vis, me, has no place to go.
