Socialism is: the needs of the group supersede the wants of the individual & socialism is top-down government because only prescience can determine what is the most good to the most people; an individual wouldn't know what is best for someone across the country. However, no one can predict the future, yet for socialism to work some elite group tries to determine the outcome very complex events. It can only correctly dictate the lives of some of the people some of the time, and can be easily captured, meaning that less-than-benevolent forces can gain control to benefit Special Interests.
