Re: Abortion
The whole morality thing is just putting a nicer face on what is simply another mechanism of power.

Re: Abortion
Our buddy Shapiro stuck it into some dope from twitter and gave it a twist yesterday.
Ben's takedown is interesting reading, and a fantastic counter-argument.

Re: Abortion
I'll debate Ben Shapiro on abortion. Right after that we can debate his plan to expatriate all the non-Israeli people who currently live in Palestine.
p.s. If Ben doesn't show up, I guess I'll just have to debate Fife & StA, see how that turns out?

I'm rarin' to go. There will be a couple stipulations though: he can't pack the room, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, the moment he reaches into his mystical Bag-O-Tricks, I win. No mention of God, sanctity of life, "Natural Rights," or any other imaginary construct anti-Abortions invariable wield in a final, last-gasp effort to unseat rational thought.Fife wrote:Give Ben a turn. Interesting response from Shapiro. He's right that external factors should weigh on the decision. Strangely, he fails to apply the inverse though. There's certainly no shortage of human life on Earth right now - even a major surplus. Abortion makes perfect sense, until the next Big Event. At that time, the Prime Directive of biology will take hold, and we'll repopulate as fast as we can.Fife wrote:Our buddy Shapiro stuck it into some dope from twitter and gave it a twist yesterday.

So you're saying that once the planet hits X population, abortion is a legitimate population control mechanism?
Guardian has ben spewing articles about how "Save the planet; don't have kids." Justifying abortion on the basis of "Planet's full" is notably worse, escalated version of that line of thinking.
You're aiming towards a dangerous precedent with that one.
