Re: Sloth
Doesn’t matter if you have the knowledge of not, according to your definition of sloth. Pursuing that knowledge was simply self gratification without any “real” achievement. Ergo, it fits well within the parameters you’ve outlined for sloth.
Decades of rigorous sloth.
Where’s the achievement?
What have your degrees done for anyone but yourself?

I’ve heard but I see no evidence of it.
More than happy to open a shared account for you to deposit 1 million USD to have me verify.
Plus, wealth is neither production nor consumption so it’s irrelevant to whether one is a sloth, right?

If someone GAVE a slothful person a winning lottery ticket then cashed that ticket for the slothful person then managed the money for the slothful person THEN a slothful person could be rich. But you in the basement with some barbells, that's sloth.DBTrek wrote:I’ve heard but I see no evidence of it.

You present a wealthy person managing their wealth as *not* slothful, but an average worker managing their body as a sloth.
Both are in the act of maintaining their personal assets.
Yet your definition applies to them differently.
Ergo your definition is flawed.

Word-smithing. Now that's ironic.DBTrek wrote:Contradictory.Martin Hash wrote: If someone GAVE a slothful person a winning lottery ticket then cashed that ticket for the slothful person then managed the money for the slothful person THEN a slothful person could be rich. p.s. I think I won this "sloth" debate, and it was funny too.

That's word-smithing too, except with the word "busy" instead of "sloth." I appreciate the call-out though.Kath wrote:How about busy?Martin Hash wrote:

p.s. Plus, I use "busy" in my definition of sloth: busy consumption.

I’m sure you think that.Martin Hash wrote: Word-smithing. Now that's ironic.

I’m equally sure you reached that conclusion entirely by self consensus.
Really, how is managing one’s personal wealth “productive”, but managing one’s physical health not? Both are self interested pursuits that produce nothing for others.
