Re: Minimum Wage Sucks Because
Hmm well how well do you think they are going to run this "automated with free money" future? It's not going to happen. UBI can take a back seat to demographic replacement for all I care. Was my point anyway.

Like I said: no argument.
You can't win a debate unless you bring an argument, and thus far, the anti-UBI crowd has brought nothing but insults.
I am perfectly wiling to change my mind. Bring an argument and convince me. Attacking me and insulting me only convinces me that you are wrong and have no coherent argument or alternative whatsoever.
grumps and his sad attitude that because he is rich, but not the richest, that everything sucks
Life's hard, I know. One day you might not even be able to waste company time prattling on the keyboard when your boss thinks you're working. It's pretty much slavery, amiright?

You've still articulated no argument, so your continued protestations that your non-existent argument isn't being addressed remain laughable.Speaker to Animals wrote:Straw man fallacy. You are attempting to change his argument in order to attack something preposterous (which he did not state) in order to derail the discussion and deflect from the fact that you were cornered and had no legitimate response.
You might notice an absolute lack of converts to your non-argument.
Or, you might not.
Depends on how observant you are, I guess.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You are attempting to deflect from the fact that Daralon cornered you and beat you. You had nothing with which to respond. I told you that, if you want to convince me, then you need an argument. Insulting me doesn't work. You are very good at trying to deflect from the fact that you lost debates. It's not working any more.

Check this black woman from Texas, and tell me you wouldn't take her over a legion of purple-haired, white SJW's.
That's American Southwest talkin' right there.
Race has nothing to do with it.

Keep trying.
If you want to succeed tho, you might want to accuse me of losing an argument where my opponent didn't start with the phrase "I have no idea if . . ."

Aren't you in Texas right now?Nukedog wrote:He find an outlier therefor all x doesn't equal that

That's what's astounding to me.
If you're in Texas you should realize the divide in America isn't racial, it's ideological.
You should realize that there are more white people preaching a divisive SJW message than there are minorities looking to mess you up.
You should realize the actual threat to your "culture" isn't coming from any other skin tone but your own.
But I guess you're hooked on some dailystormer shit so you're letting their script mess with your perceptions.
Sad.

Re: Minimum Wage Sucks Because
We aren't there yet. Granted. Is that a declaration that we won't get there?
Are we denying that the intent is not to get there?
I think that's the intent. I don't see any reason to believe it won't be achieved, at least to a significant degree.
I'm not in favor of UBI, but I do think that if we move substantially in the direction of automation, that we will face pressures.
I don't think it should be a point of contention that we are moving towards more automation, not less.
I think the question is, are we going to see a level of automation reached at such a pace that the population can't adapt with it?
Maybe not. Maybe it will be like it was two centuries ago where there was pain, but it was manageable, and society adapted.
Or maybe it will be. Maybe this new-fangled information age will make this transition possible much faster than previous shifts, and create much greater disturbances.
When I look at the industrial revolution, I see a shift that upset the old way, but did so as it opened up a new way, industrial jobs. That wasn't by accident. It was the goal. Get people into industrial centers so they can produce industrial goods. How's one way to do that? Make subsistence farming untenable, because you need those people elsewhere.
Where I see differences today, or rather, in the mirage of what might be to come, is that it is not driven by moving people again to somewhere where they would be of more use, but instead to simply replace them. There's no part of the automation trend that is trying to move people somewhere they might be of more use, except for out of the way.
There's a small area available for the people who will make this technology, but I don't think a movement that has as its center, a motivation to replace people with machines, with as little reliance on people as possible, is a reliable driver for employment.
But instead of welfare, what others call UBI, I'd be interested in allocating human capital into other areas. How about a mastodon game reserve where we can be park rangers for the silicon valley kids on safari? I bet they would pay us quite a bit to reenact ice age big game hunts with spears and atlatls.
