Right, so then at the moment of DNA combination, we should issue a SSN and hold a funeral in the event of miscarriage?Xenophon wrote:It is not a fertilized embryo. Therefore, not murder.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Semen, for the uninitiated.Xenophon wrote: What?

Not really. I'd just like some consistency in ideology.Speaker to Animals wrote:GCF is all about "Science!" up u til it contradicts his ideology.
If you're going to declare that personhood begins at DNA combination, then follow through. Otherwise, you're just weaving around a half-assed solution, in order to save feelz. That is what I'm pointing out.

I don't know about personhood, but scientifically a human life begins at conception.
Without any good arguments to place the beginning of human personhood, the prudent and morally justifiable position to take is to assume human personhood begins when a human life begins; that all human lives are human persons. Whenever a society has before decided that human persons are a subset of human beings, some pretty bad shit tended to go down.

This is really the only relevant part of your post. Now, what if a significant portion of people felt that human life began at birth?Speaker to Animals wrote:GrumpyCatFace wrote:Not really. Or, if you prefer, follow your own logic. If a pre-natal embryo is a fully-fledged 'human life', then it should be recognized as such. All rights, responsibilities, and benefits. Therefore, SSN, murder charges for anyone ending its life, a full funeral/death certificate on miscarriage.
Of course, rather than actually consider this, you'll simply repeat that your feelz dictate that God Hates Abortion because it's icky, and murder, but totally not the legal definition, because we aren't willing to electrocute a mother that has an abortion, or drinks her kid to death, or coat-hangers-in-the-alley-abortion. But FEELZ!

Re: Abortion
Abortion at 9 months is the same as a c-section.
I found rant.
