30 minutes south of Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons don’t get much love, and that’s all reflected. A change since the last time my wife, Gwynne, & I came through is all the burned pines, totally denuded & eerie looking from a forest fire some time ago, but the mountains themselves are majestic. Gwynne commented that when people tell her about their “mountains” they should first look at real mountains before speaking.

Every other vehicle has a bikerack or kayaks but we didn't have anything planned; it was mostly on the path of going someplace else but that didn't stop me from getting the National Parks Passport stamp, coin, patch, hat-pin & bottle of huckleberry honey in a plastic bear. Plus, as an avid Smokey the Bear collector, a trove of half-price Smokey tchotchkes was exciting (to me anyway).
