Yellowstone National Park, WY
As a kid. I knew it as Jellystone where Yogi Bear stole picnic baskets. When my kids were teenagers, we went our first time. I don’t remember much but there was Old Faithful: I know we saw that.
This trip we drove in from the south, got our National Park Passport stamp, bought a park patch & coin, and headed to Old Faithful. We’d planned to visit after Labor Day to miss the crowds but it was still busy. The walk around the nearby hot springs & geysers was especially fascinating.
Because of what Yellowstone is know for, we were surprised started to get concerned that we would spend all day in the park and never see a “buffalo” (American bison). We were getting concerned we wouldn’t see one, then just before we exited a park, a buffalo came right up to the side of the road for us to get a picture & a breath a sign of relief.
