When you go on tours, you have to roll with it. Sometimes they're well planned out, and sometimes it's a taxi driver who wasn't busy, as was our ChaChapoyas tour.
Luckily gorges were done but the next stop, an orchid farm, was closed, only the dogs showed up at the locked gate. We were non-pulsed, these things happen; the apologetic taxi driver took us to a museum but it was closed. The last stop was a famous well named after the saint who sprung it to life during a drought, but it had been capped over. The only memorable thing was the No Dumping sign absolutely surrounded by garbage.
Remaining optimistic, we asked if there were any cock-fights; they were famous, this was a end-of-the-month weekend when cock-fights were held, and the driver said he knew where one was, but after driving around, he didn’t. Finally, defeated, he dropped us off back at the Tour shop. The door was open but it was full of a bunch of old guys smoking & drinking, like we should have been.
To begin, we were told to be at the Tour office at 4 pm but no one was there. When the guy finally showed up 15 minutes later, he said transportation would arrive shortly then he called someone on the phone. Another 15 minutes a cab showed up: our transportation. The tour guide told the cab driver what we were supposed to see and sent us off. The first stop was a gorge lookout; we were surprised when we were asked to pay the entry fee. Another Gorge after that, another entry fee.ChaChapoyas Tour
