Raffles Hotel.JPG
Singapore, the world's only island city-state, is a former British colony & still under Western influence, but there are a lot of Chinese restaurants. It's also expensive as hell: $1200 per night at the Raffles hotel, originators of the famous mixed drink, Singapore Sling, which itself runs $25 a glass. I'm mostly immune to social virtue-signaling, but I discovered something about myself; even though I'm not a vegetarian, not even close (vegans need to stay out of my way), that I've got a soft spot in my heart for frogs. I've eaten frog in the past, been to a frog abattoir, & even discussed the merits of fresh frog porridge, but when I passed a "Live Frog" restaurant on the street, saw dozens of the big guys in tanks for diners to choose from, looking up at me vacuously, I was done eating frogs forever.Frogs 1.JPG
