Aquariums are watery zoos, but it's difficult to make an aquarium engaging, and fish are difficult to anthropomorphize, but Aquaria in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia does a good job of it. The place invites the visitor to immerse themselves in the environment via an underwater tunnel with a slow moving conveyor while giant Manta rays & sea turtles swim overhead & along side as if you to are a fellow harmless denizen of the deep. You watch scuba divers descend into the giant tanks to hand feed the tiger sharks and caress the pike fish. Many of the enclosures are works of art as well as engineering; I marveled at their construction, their grace & how they were kept so clean.

In the large education area, newly hatched Bamboo sharks, unable to swim due to the yolk sac still dangling under their body, were just inches away in tiny bubble. There were beautiful, tenuous, ballerinic jelly fish spinning in a slow circle, exotic filtering and aeration equipment visible next to their tanks. There were curious sea otters & giant Malaysian Jungle Nymphs, mean looking piranhas & sublime Sea Cucumbers. The place was packed with children, all excited to be there, pulling parents along; and young couples holding hands & taking selfies. Even the Gift Shop was an adventure.
