I can say with complete certainty that if I hear about a remote Budda cave, I'm going to see it, especially if I have to make a dangerous ride up a winding road in the back of a scooter truck. And I was not disappointed: the entrance was guarded by a pair of giant white statues of elephants. We had to take our shoes off but the cave’s floor was wore smooth by centuries of bare feet.There was a Reclining Buddha and a long line of statues of dead monks. The cave went all the way under the mountain and on the other side was a hidden lake that locals willing to pole us across for a small fee. One of them fancied himself a singer and serenaded us in unintelligible English though the tunes were recognizable.Trump's election was a huge surprise to most of the world but the divining power of Buddhism gets kudos for expected him, and knowing what he would look like.
