A lot of China is barren, nothing visible hundreds of miles except powdery dirt and smog. Occasionally, however, in these tracts of barren wasteland are entire new cities that are completely empty. There are tens of thousands of apartments, all alike, and there are shops, warehouses, gas stations, office buildings, playgrounds, sewers, electricity and every other aspect that makes up a city. The tarmac roads leading up to these cities are complete with street lights, guard rails & traffic signs, everything but cars.
China has ended its famous One Child policy, but Thinking ahead, the quintessential bureaucrats came up with a unique solution to the looming population crisis... Building cities for babies. It's not that the babies live there now, no the cities are completely empty, called "Ghost cities" by Westerners, but babies born today have an apartment reserved for them by their parents, to be occupied after they find a bride, a place to raise their own families a generation from now.
