I grew up riding a wooden roller coaster in Memphis built before WWI, the Zippin Pippin. That old bastard is still shaking them to their boots nowadays in Green Bay. (!)

The best woodie, IMO, is The Voyage @ Holiday World in Santa Claus, IN.

My first and last rollercoasters were wooden. Love them - 'my' rollercoaster was the Dragon Coaster at Rye Playland.

I've got to check out Alton towers, about 4hrs drive away. All steel by the looks of it.
I'm crap at queuing though....
