Most people in the Renaissance were rubes tho.

Most people in the Renaissance didn't know what the Renaissance was.

Renaissance Man is kind of a retrospective actually.

They didn't call Renaissance Men that, in the Renaissance, most rubes called them heretics.

I think if you wanted to play the long game in terms of innovation, it would be wise, if you can you actually invent this, to patent technology that produces from coal some kind of uniform fuel that can be combusted in an engine roughly comparable to our current combustion engines that run on petrol fuels, as well as the technology to capture the emissions to mitigate pollution.

We are for damned sure headed into a coal/nuclear economy before the century is out, but possibly very soon, depending upon the actual reserves.

US has lots of natural gas to run on, but other nations do not. Especially some of the big nations hitting mass industrialization right now. They have lots of coal, though.

Another way to sell the idea is to point out that expecting China and India to build thorium nuclear power plants all over the place and buy Tesla autos for half the Earth's population really doesn't represent a practical solution. The solution to peak oil for us (nuclear and electric vehicles) is not necessarily the best solution for the entire planet. And the economies that would need some other solution than our own are the ones with the most growth potential.

Tesla is too high end.
Someone needs to build the VW Beetle of electric cars.
No frills, basic and sold by the millions.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

You don't need to invent anything fancy, could just be your own brand of salted peanuts

Hashnuts.

Just need some market share.

Once you are associated with a household product, presto, everybody knows who you are.

Or if they don't, you just associate the product, you're the Hashnuts guy, then they know who you are.

Then they'll vote for you.

Vespa type scooters are already the vehicle of choice in many large Asian cities, and electric scooters are gaining market share fast.
We are only accustomed to dealing with like twenty online personas at a time so when we only have about ten people some people have to be strawmanned in order to advance our same relative go nowhere nonsense positions. -TheReal_ND

The problem with electric vehicles is their large populations. Estimate the amount of kwh you need to run an electric vehicle for a year. Multiply that shit by several billion. Then calculate how many power plants they'd need to build..

Nagannahappen.

If you have the right stuff, and you want to make a name for yourself, invent some replacement for the reciprocating engine that uses some kind of product economically made from coal such that you capture the toxic emissions.

China and India have to import huge amounts of natural gas. That's not going to do it. They can't realistically build enough power plants to do this. Petroleum fuels are maybe ten years from peak production. They need something else. They do have plenty of coal, though..
