How are the mosquitoes at your elevation in the summer?

Not too bad.

Nothing like Florida (or even Chicago suburbs).

The noseums are fucking horrible, though, but they are usually in cut grass. Easy to avoid.
Mosquitoes are my biggest pain in the ass at Kentucky Lake, but it just takes a bit of chemical effort to keep them away. About the only thing I miss about smoking now is being able to fire up a square just about anywhere outside in the summer and keeping the little bastards away.

@DB, ticks are a bit of a hassle also. Close grooming seems to make getting rid of them a reasonable hassle, though. Better than the kind of human ticks one meets up with in the city.

Definitely avoid bug spray if you are serious about the strength training.

I think mosquitoes are worse down around the French Broad river area. The mountains don't seem to have as many, but they do have a lot of those noseums and ticks.

Well, damnation.

What am I supposed to do to keep those fuckers off me without going low-T?

Not sure. Citronella?

Real men wear iguanas on their shoulders to eat the bugs.

We ain't got those, but I might make a deal with a fence lizard to let him handle skeeter duty in lieu of being catfish bait.

High-T solution for both of us.

I used to ride the 'shuttle' from public parking to my office in Cleveland. The whole ride was about 15 minutes, but it seemed like a daily torture, for all of the reasons stated already.

I also rode a Greyhound from Ohio to Florida once. Total trip time was around 40 hours, and by the end of it, I was half-insane.

High T solution is to not be afraid of a bug.

I remember taking a greyhound from Michigan to Florida. I found a wad of tissue saturated in what looked like red and black tar containing what might have been a tooth that haunts me to this day.

Bus was pretty clean, but the people were bizarre. Some ex-con was staring at me through the crack in the seat in front of me, for about 3 hours.

It was strange to see the quality of the busses themselves decline as we went south. Started out with individual lights, power outlets, and wi-fi. By the time we hit Florida, it was closer to a school bus.

I'll print that post out for handy reference when you come over to the lake for a summer fishing trip. I'll let you read it out loud after about 3 hours of being on the mosquito buffet; and you are looking like Yeager caught you with a couple of loads of birdshot at about 20 yards.
