His talk on Stalin with the expert Kotkin is well worth a listen/watch.

The one point where I thought he was really crazy is where he was talking about Jaws and what the shark represented.

He's not crazy so much as he is limited by a 110 IQ and exposed by an unquenchable thirst for attention.

To be fair most film critique and "analysis" is esoteric mishmash.

They are both very verbose. They have that in common. They need the moderator to keep them both on topic and it has to be 2 hours long just to get started probably!

It's kinda part of his job as a Prof. and part of the lifestyle. Plus, I think it's what really sets off the Lima's. The academic high ground is where they have planted their flag and foundation, so Jordan is a real danger in that way. Listen to Adam Carolla, says they same thing as Jordan in the language of a Construction Worker and they scoff at Carolla.

I agree that hearing Peterson or Carolla saying much the same thing doesn't have the same optics, but there are lengthy explanations and then there is Peterson. He's better at the lecture hall for a reason. He's an academic that spent his entire life teaching young adults about psychology. He thinks like a psychologist would, that is everything circles back to labeling, diagnosis, and pathology. But he's unique in that specialized myopic circle in that he brings in older themes like Christianity and Mythology etc. Between him and Zizek it could end up making the first Harris talk look like that got some where. I mean these guys are going to go on some long detours if let free. Again you need two hours just to get started. So in four hours they'd get some where.C-Mag wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2019 11:58 amJordan speak academic, and Jordan speak academic very well.GloryofGreece wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2019 11:41 amThey are both very verbose. Peterson said the topic was "happiness" of all things. Which I find odd because well he said happiness as a goal is bullshit really. Its a pretty trivial pursuit that doesn't really bring meaning. He's going to advocate for "capitalism" and Zizek is going to talk about "socialism" but really those so called economic systems are not a way to meaning for just about anyone. They are not what a civilization should primarily be based on, economics that its. Its like one of four or five things that should make up the bulk of a so called civilization. A more interesting topic would be "meaning" itself but maybe they'll hint around that through the talk.
