it was quite the testosterone festival during the Calgary Stampede at the bars all night

you had cowboys, roughnecks, lumberjacks, bikers, and Infantrymen

there was some spectacular heavy hitting fights in the parking lots

the cops had a detachment of the riot squad out to break them up

but I was a lover not a fighter, so I just hung out in the corner drinking cocktails with the pretty girls

I mean, she was about thirty five, and that's a girl to me now, but she was older to me then

she was a real deal cocaine cowgirl, big city Calgary party girl who come to the city from the farm

but she took me home with her, and she had a fancy condo downtown

much better than staying in transient barracks with the troops
