We were using the Canadian license manufactured version of the Belgian FN FAL : C1A1
7.62 x 51mm NATO Battle Rifle, semi auto only, 20 round magazine
In the 90's :
We switched to the Canadian license manufactured AR15A2 HBAR : C7
5.56 x 45mm NATO Assault Rifle, semi auto, fully auto to 700-900 rpm, 30 round magazine
Sidearm was FN Browning Hi-Power 9x19mm parabellum, blowback operated, 12+1 magazine

Those FAL's are so fucking cool. I think Pacino used one in Heat during the Bank Robbery scene.Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 6:35 pmWhen I first joined back in the 80's :heydaralon wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 6:25 pm

Browning looks pretty boss too.
I'm not going to get one anytime soon, but sometimes I feel like a little fuckboy for not owning a gun. One day when I get my own place I will keep one for home defense.

Carbine Automatique Legere is the 5.56 x 45mm NATO follow on to the FN FAL

I was reading this book on Patty Hearst, and back in the 70's if you a cop in LA you had to provide your own gun. That shootout was one of the worst in American history in terms of rounds fired and those cops had their own kit from home. How crazy is that?Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 6:47 pmThat was the CAL not the FALheydaralon wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 6:45 pm

As an aside, if you look at the pictures of Patty with the SLA she is posing with this weird ass looking gun. It looks like this kind of carbine thing, but it also has a scope on it. I'm pretty sure I read it was full auto. I have no idea what type of gun that is. I don't think I've seen it before.

Thank God no one during the Great Depression had to live through the repealing of Net Neutrality. Talk about hard times!Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 12:36 pmAs I've always said to those who think the good ol' days was all milk & honey ; not reallyheydaralon wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 11:52 am

The greatest generation took care of the Feather head Indians easy enough. I reckon they could have handled the Dot head indian running the FCC just fine.
