thing is for me, the only Vietnam veteran I ever had a chance to get close to, was my uncle

but my uncle is Canadian, old school Canadian, from a very British Canada

and he was 1st Cavalry Division, which had a certain attitude, they didn't think like grunts

so he didn't lament his tour in Vietnam, he said he loved it

he said flying helicopters is addictive, flying helicopters into danger is even more addictive

they even flew right into North Vietnam at the DMZ, looking for trouble, provoking the NVA

one commander was even killed while he was deer hunting from a helicopter

when they flew back to An Khe aka Camp Radcliff, they went to the Warrant Officers club at night

it was air conditioned, they had cold beer in the fridge, steaks on the grill

helicopter pilots didn't march in the jungle

helicopter pilots didn't pull guard duty

helicopter pilots never dug latrines

helicopter pilots had a god's eye view of it

he wouldn't deny it

like they felt bad for the grunts

but it was like "poor buggers, glad that's not us"

they would fly any mission for the grunts, no matter how dangerous

thing is, flying a helicopter is not easy, you need a certain kind of brain for that

like an acrobat crossed with a mathematician, so the helicopter pilots were a handpicked elite

you don't want your helicopter pilots living in the jungle getting no sleep, exhausted

they need to be at the top of their game, or everybody is gonna die when they crash the bird

I don't actually blame Westmoreland, I think Westmoreland gets a bad rap

he wasn't some staff weenie who didn't know what he was doing

he was a highly decorated veteran of the Second World War

rising from Lieutenant in 1939 all the way to the rank of Colonel by the end

he fought from North Africa all the way to Germany

Westy was simply a prisoner of the politics

the civilian authority demanded a quick & decisive victory

thus Westmoreland was forced to present them with the quick & decisive victory plan

if he had said, there is no quick & decisive option, they would have fired him for saying that

it was really Richard M. Nixon who saved the day

there was nothing he could do to save the situation on the ground in Vietnam

so what he did was take things up to the geostrategic level

Nixon won the Cold War itself, rendering the war in Vietnam irrelevant in the process

... he says as Marxist solidify their power over North America.

just like World War One & World War Two

the first Cold War did not decide the issue to finality, the end was more of a pause

so a Second Cold War is upon us now

it's just not an industrial war this time

it's the war that Marshall McLuhan predicted in 1970, the Information War

so now in Cold War Two, the Communists have evolved

they learned the lessons of Cold War One

they learned what worked and what didn't work

Information War was nascent at the time, the North Vietnamese were employing it

the Communists then brought it to the streets of America in the 1970's

it wasn't the main event in Cold War One, it was a secondary front

but that Information War front has now become the main axis of their advance

They are failing spectacularly here, more guns than ever, more people demanding guns, can't keep up with ammo demand.

There are some gun grabbers in blue islands that have had some success, but even in those places illegal guns are everywhere.

no doubt

it just gets a little bizarre when there are Americans passing stricter gun laws than Canada's
