Re: Chess
I was ranked in CA in high school. I was undefeated but that's because my strategy was to swap pieces and play an end game which often resulted in a draw. I didn't play my senior year because I realized it made me a nerd.

It's hard to get into something you dont like. Same goes for poker, I mean, I've tried a lot, but for whatever reason it just doesnt appeal to me. My in laws always want to play. I get bored and drink the beer as fast as I can.

I remember in the army we'd end up playing these sorts of games to pass the time
I'd get bored just like you say, but I'd keep drinking
then at some point somebody would chirp me, and I would flip the table and punch them in the face
I'd just loved fighting for real, I always wanted to cut straight to that

I am down for some pool. My family always plays cards. Spades, Hearts and Pinochle.
Lately the wife and I have Mexican Train dominoes with the cousin, an auntie and a friend.
