Re: Dan Carlin on the Rubin Report
I think he is angling for an MSNBC or CNN paid analyst deal, honestly. He is trying to get away from the center to try to be that token "right" guy like Morning Joe, but for the analyst gigs, which is actually pretty lucrative for how little work they have to put into it.

The Patriot Act did not create the NSA. It was created in the '50s.GrumpyCatFace wrote:It enabled the modern police state, created DHS, the NSA, and the PRISM program. It's the reason that everything you do is monitored by Big Brother now, lest you turn scary terrorist.TheReal_ND wrote:What does the patriot act even do? A better question would be how to solve whatever the problem is.

The NSA was created from its earlier form as a signals intelligence agency right after the close of the second world war (Truman created it). They have ALWAYS been spying on the American people like this. They don't care one bit whether or not they have a law authorizing it.

Welcome to the forums! Were you a DCFer?GloryofGreece wrote:It would be nice if Dan made more appearances on the JRE, Bryan Callen Show, maybe even Jordan Peterson channel would be cool. Also sticking to Historical topics and debates would be awesome. If he talking about politics in general or the future of our Republic etc. it would be nice for him to circle back to what he's always said lets have a new Whig party rising from the ashes like a Phoenix to limit the power of the Executive and have three goddam branches of the government again that are more coequal. I think a lot of people across "party lines" can get behind that idea. Term limits and single six year Presidential term would help reform and reign in those excesses as well.

AT&T was selling bulk phone records to the FBI as far back as the Reagan admin.
This shit didn't start in 2001.

That's bad too, but it was relatively rare. Not the same as a mass vacuuming, and FISA courts.Okeefenokee wrote:AT&T was selling bulk phone records to the FBI as far back as the Reagan admin.
